About Dan Honig

Daniel “Dan” Honig is an Austin, Texas–based entrepreneur, Founder and President of High Fortitude, and founder of Discount Fence USA. His work centers on building construction and field-service businesses, developing their teams, and strengthening day-to-day operations.

Before founding Discount Fence USA in 2014, Dan gained hands-on experience leading and managing companies, with responsibilities spanning operations, team leadership, and business development. At Discount Fence USA, he put that experience into building a fence and deck business around customer service, craftsmanship, and the systems needed to support growth.

Building on that experience, Dan partnered with Giacomo Iacoangeli, and together they founded High Fortitude. Through acquisitions and continued growth, they expanded across Texas, including into San Antonio and Houston. Discount Fence USA entered Houston in May 2025, and High Fortitude completed its acquisition of Texas Fence in April 2026, strengthening the group’s presence in Greater Houston.

Today, Dan serves as Founder and President of High Fortitude, an operating group that acquires and supports businesses in construction and field services. Discount Fence USA is part of its portfolio. The group strengthens shared capabilities while preserving the local brands, customer relationships, and operating knowledge that make each company valuable.

Family and Foundation

Dan’s father, Daniel Honig Sr., was also part of the Discount Fence USA story, working alongside Dan during an earlier stage of the company’s growth.

Dan also credits his wife, Nayomi Honig, as an essential source of support throughout the early years of Discount Fence USA. Her encouragement and steady support helped him navigate the challenges of building the business and played an important role in its eventual success.

Family is central to Dan’s life, and he is deeply proud of the individual paths his five children are building. His son Daniel works in the family’s industry, specializing in gate operators and access-control systems. His son Isaiah serves in the United States Army, while his daughter Leilani serves in the United States Air Force Reserve as she continues her education. Dan’s two youngest children bring their own energy and interests to the family, including a growing passion for jiu-jitsu.

Whether they are building careers, serving their country, pursuing an education, or discovering their own interests, Dan considers being their father one of the greatest privileges of his life.

Humble Beginnings

When Dan began building Discount Fence USA, he had just $25 to his name. The early years brought real financial hardship—including the repossession of his wife Nayomi’s car—and tested the family through one of the darkest seasons of their lives. Dan kept moving forward, serving customers, solving problems, and building the company one job at a time.

That persistence helped turn a difficult beginning into an extraordinary American business story. Discount Fence USA grew into a $40M+ service business and one of the country’s leading fence and deck providers. For Dan, the achievement is not simply the size of the company; it is proof that discipline, speed, honest conversations, and a refusal to quit can change the direction of a life.

Dan later shared those lessons in a live School of Mentors session presented by the School of Hard Knocks. He now draws on that experience to mentor entrepreneurs and emerging leaders—encouraging them to take action, communicate directly, and keep moving when circumstances are hardest.
